Delete your ZeroTag account
Last updated: 3 November 2026
You can delete your ZeroTag account and your Share Cards at any time.
Delete it in the app
- Open the ZeroTag app and sign in.
- Go to Account → Settings → Delete account.
- Read what will be deleted, confirm it’s you, and confirm.
When you delete your account in the app, it is closed and your Cards go offline straight away. The rest of your information is deleted within 30 days.
Can’t use the app? Ask us by email
Email support@zerotag.au from the email address you use to sign in to the ZeroTag app, with the subject “Delete my account”.
If you signed in with Apple and chose “Hide My Email”, tell us that. If you can still open the app, go to Account → Support and choose My tag: it starts an email that already includes your tag IDs. Otherwise, tell us the email address you signed up with.
We’ll reply within 5 business days. To protect your account, we may ask you to confirm the request from the same email address. If you ask us by email, we complete the deletion within 30 days of confirming the request.
What we delete
- Your ZeroTag account and its sign-in methods (Apple, Google or email)
- Your Share Cards and their earlier versions: names, text, artwork, photos, voice notes, PDFs, links and contact details
- Goodbye Cards left by Cards you retired
- Cards you saved in the app
- Your settings and saved preferences
What happens to your tags
Your ZeroTags are unclaimed. Anyone who taps or scans them will no longer see your Cards. The tags themselves still work, and they can be claimed again later, by you or someone you give them to.
What we may keep, and for how long
- Backups. We back up our database once a day. Each backup is deleted automatically after 30 days, and our storage provider can still recover a deleted backup for 7 more days, so copies can stay in our backups for up to about 5 weeks.
- Deleted files. Deleted photos, voice notes and PDFs can be recovered by us for 30 days, then they’re gone for good.
- Files another Card still uses. If someone else’s Card uses the same file (for example, by linking to your PDF), it stays available until no Card uses it or we take it down.
- A record of your deletion, so we can show it was handled: your random account ID, when you asked and when it was done, and the IDs of the tags that were unclaimed. No email, name or Card content.
- Records of tag claims and unclaims, which keep your random account ID but not your email or name.
- Reports about your Cards, and records of anything we took down, which are kept separately from your account.
- Crash reports the app sent, which are kept only as long as needed to fix errors, then deleted.
None of this is used to rebuild your account or your Cards. Copies other people made of your public Cards, such as screenshots or saved images, are outside our control. Orders from our store are covered by the store’s own privacy policy.
Only want to remove a Card?
You don’t need to delete your account. In the app, choose Retire this Card from the Card’s ⋯ (More) menu: its content is removed straight away, and you can leave a goodbye Card in its place. A goodbye Card stays public at the Card’s link for up to 12 months, unless you remove it sooner. After that, the link says the Card has said goodbye. To remove a retired Card completely, choose Delete Card from its ⋯ (More) menu.
