Terms of Service

Last updated: 3 November 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and ZeroTag Pty Ltd ABN 31 663 455 169 (“ZeroTag”, “we”, “us”).

1. About these terms

These terms cover your use of:

  • the ZeroTag app for iOS and Android (the “app”);
  • Share Cards: the digital cards that open when someone taps a ZeroTag or follows a Card link, served at share.zerotag.au (the “web Card”);
  • the services that connect ZeroCards, ZeroKeyrings and ZeroBadges (“tags”) to Share Cards.

Together these are the “Service”. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

Buying tags. Purchases from our store at www.zerotag.au are covered by the store’s checkout terms, the store’s terms of service and privacy policy, and our Refund Policy and Shipping Policy. These terms don’t repeat or replace them.

Early access. While the app is in alpha or beta testing (for example through TestFlight or Google Play testing), features may change, break or be removed, and test data may be reset. Data from the alpha test service is deleted at launch and is not carried over.

2. Who can use ZeroTag

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. If you use ZeroTag for a business, you confirm you’re allowed to accept these terms for it.

3. Your account

  • You need an account to claim a tag and manage a Share Card. You can sign in with Apple, Google or an email address and password.
  • Keep your sign-in details secure. You’re responsible for activity on your account. Tell us straight away at support@zerotag.au if you think someone else has accessed it. You can also sign out of all devices from the app.
  • Keep your account email up to date. We use it to verify account requests, such as deletion.
  • You can delete your account at any time in the app (Account → Settings → Delete account). See Delete your account.

4. Tags and claiming

  • Your tag. When you buy a tag, you own the physical item. Its tag ID, and the web address it opens, are run by ZeroTag so the tag can keep working. The chip and its web address can’t be reprogrammed, but you choose in the app which of your Cards the tag opens (Point the tag here).
  • Claiming. You claim a tag in the app by scanning it. Claiming links the tag to your account and opens a Share Card for it. A tag can be claimed by only one account at a time.
  • Unclaiming. You can unclaim a tag in the app: open the tag and choose Unclaim tag in the tag’s ⋯ (More) menu, beside its name. If the tag opens a live Card, or still holds your other Share Card that you’ve edited, the app asks you to retire that Card first. When you unclaim a Card’s last tag, you choose whether to retire or delete that Card. The tag can then be claimed again by you or someone else. For security, we may ask you to confirm it’s you first.
  • Retiring and deleting Cards. Retiring a Card (Retire this Card) removes its content straight away and can’t be undone. You can leave a goodbye Card in its place: a photo, a short message or both. A goodbye Card stays public at the Card’s link for up to 12 months, unless you remove it sooner. After that, the link says the Card has said goodbye. Deleting a Card (Delete Card) removes everything, and its link says the Card can’t be found.
  • Giving a tag to someone else. Unclaim it first, then give it to the new person so they can claim it with their own account. If you give away a tag without unclaiming it, anyone who taps it will still see your Card.
  • Lost or stolen tags. A lost tag still opens your Card. If you lose a tag, unclaim it in the app, or contact us and we can disable it on request. Replacing a lost tag is a new purchase unless the Australian Consumer Law says otherwise.
  • Damaged or faulty tags are covered by our Refund Policy and the Australian Consumer Law (see section 11).
  • Genuine tags only. We may check that a tag is genuine when it’s claimed. We may refuse to activate tags that are counterfeit, tampered with, or not sold by us or an authorised seller.

5. What’s included, and what may cost extra

  • The Share Card is included with your tag. You pay once for the tag. There’s no subscription, renewal or recurring charge for the standard Share Card. It stays available while your tag is valid, claimed by you, and not suspended or revoked under these terms.
  • Premium features. We may offer optional paid features in the future. We’ll tell you the price and terms before you buy, and the standard Share Card won’t be turned into a paid feature.
  • If we stop the Service. If we ever plan to discontinue the Share Card service, we’ll give at least 90 days’ notice and explain your options.

6. Your Share Card is public

  • Anyone can see your published Card. That includes anyone who taps your tag, and anyone who has its link, short link or QR code, and a goodbye Card you leave when you retire a Card. People can share it, screenshot it and save it. We ask search engines not to index Cards, but we can’t promise every service will respect that.
  • Changes go live only when you choose to publish. Earlier copies others have saved stay outside our control.
  • Don’t put anything on your Card that you want to keep private.
  • PDFs you upload are public too, exactly as you uploaded them. Anyone who can open your Card can open and download them. We don’t remove hidden details inside a PDF (such as the author’s name, comments, earlier edits or photo locations), so check the file first.

7. Your content and your responsibilities

“Your content” means everything you add to your Card: names, text, artwork, photos, voice notes, files (PDFs), links, events, payment details, phone numbers and other details.

  • You’re responsible for your content. You must have the right to share it. This includes having permission from anyone whose photo, voice, name, phone number, email or other personal details you include.
  • Links. You’re responsible for where your links go. We don’t control or endorse other websites, apps or shops, and we’re not responsible for them.
  • Payment details. If you add payment details for people to copy, you’re responsible for making sure they’re correct and yours to share. We don’t process or check those payments.
  • You keep ownership of your content. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, convert (for example resize, re-encode, and make previews, thumbnails and link previews), display and send your content. For files such as PDFs, this means hosting, storing, copying, serving and sending them as you uploaded them; we don’t convert them. We use this licence only to run, secure and improve the Service and to show your Card to the people who open it. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for:
    • copies kept as described in our Privacy Policy (for example, backups until they expire);
    • copies others have already made, including PDFs people downloaded;
    • a PDF that another Card still uses, until no Card uses it or we take it down (see our Privacy Policy).
  • Uploaded PDFs. You must have the right to publish everything in the file. We don’t scan files for viruses or other harmful content, and we don’t check what they say. You’re responsible for what your files contain.
  • Our artwork. Catalogue artwork and templates we provide are ours or our licensors’. You may use them on your Card while you use the Service.

8. Acceptable use

You must not use the Service, or your Card, to:

  • break any law, or help someone else break one;
  • share content that is illegal, defamatory, harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, or that exploits children;
  • share someone’s personal information without permission, or impersonate anyone;
  • infringe anyone’s copyright, trade marks or other rights;
  • upload or link to malware, phishing, scams or deceptive sites, or sell illegal or restricted goods;
  • send spam or unsolicited marketing;
  • interfere with the Service, for example by:
    • probing, scanning or testing its security without our written permission;
    • getting around rate limits;
    • scraping it;
    • overloading it;
    • accessing other people’s accounts or data;
  • copy, resell or reverse engineer the app or the Service, except where the law allows.

9. Suspension and termination

  • We may remove content, take a Card offline, or suspend or close an account or tag if we reasonably believe it breaches these terms or the law, puts people or the Service at risk, or if the law requires it. Where it’s appropriate and lawful, we’ll tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
  • Reporting a Card. Anyone can report a Card, or a PDF on it, with the “Report this Card” link on the Card. Reports don’t take anything down by themselves: ZeroTag looks at each one. We don’t collect the reporter’s contact details, so we can’t reply to them.
  • Taking down a PDF. If we take down a PDF, we remove that file from every Card that uses it, and while the takedown stands, the same file can’t be uploaded or published again. We tell the owner by email at their account’s email address, with the reason. If a takedown was a mistake, we can lift it, but the file itself was deleted, so the owner will need to upload it again. We can’t recall copies people have already downloaded.
  • You may stop using the Service at any time, retire or delete your Cards, unclaim your tags and delete your account.
  • When an account is closed, we delete your data as our Privacy Policy describes. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as 10 to 13) continue after closure.

10. Availability and changes to the Service

  • We work to keep the Service available, but we don’t promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may need to pause it for maintenance, security or reasons outside our control.
  • We may change, add or remove features. If a change significantly reduces the standard Share Card included with your tag, we’ll give you reasonable notice.
  • Some features depend on third-party services, such as Apple, Google, Shopify and video, music and event providers. These can change or stop working because of those third parties.
  • App store terms. If you got the app from Apple’s App Store or Google Play, their terms also apply. For the iOS app: these terms are between you and ZeroTag, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, and isn’t responsible for claims about the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.

11. Australian Consumer Law

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled:

  • to cancel your service contract with us; and
  • to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value.

You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the contract.

For goods: you are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that can’t be excluded.

12. Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, and subject to section 11:

  • the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We exclude all warranties and guarantees that aren’t set out in these terms;
  • we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill;
  • we are not liable for content other users put on their Cards (including files they upload), or for third-party websites, apps or shops linked from a Card;
  • where the law lets us limit our liability for a failure to meet a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited (at our choice) to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again; or for goods, to replacing or repairing them or paying for that;
  • otherwise, our total liability to you for all claims about the Service is limited to AUD 100.

You agree to compensate us for loss we suffer because of content you publish or because you breach these terms. This doesn’t apply to loss we caused, and its amount is reduced to the extent that we contributed to the loss.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. If you have a dispute, please contact us first. We’ll try to resolve it informally within 30 days. This doesn’t affect your rights to go to a consumer protection agency or tribunal.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we’ll give owners at least 30 days’ notice in the app or by email, unless a change is needed sooner for legal or security reasons. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms. If you don’t agree, you can stop using the Service and delete your account.

15. General

  • If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we haven’t given it up.
  • You can’t transfer your rights under these terms without our consent. We may transfer ours to someone who takes over the Service, with notice to you.
  • These terms, our Privacy Policy and our store policies are the whole agreement between us about the Service.
